FUNCTION: It Expresses activities which will exist or occur in the future carrying the following meanings: (will )

1. Prediction: It will be windy and cold this week.

2. Promise : I will buy you a nice present, my son.

3. Formal speech: His Majesty the king will open the Parliament this afternoon.

4. Refusal : The baby will not (won’t) drink the milk.



(BE going to) also carries the concept of the future carrying the meaning of planned future and

definite intentions. Example: They are going to get married in June.

Examples
a) Affirmative: They will graduate in the summer of this year.

b) Negative: He will not take the job in the Arab Bank.

c) Yes/No Qs. Will he spend his vacation on the mountains last year?

e) Wh- Qs Where will he spend his vacation next year?

f) Tag Qs He will spend his vacation on the mountains next year, won’t he?

She will invite all her friends tonight, won’t she?


Passive Voice : Object (will be) + Past Participle ……………



Examples: (Active) They will paint the house white next week.

(Passive) The house will be painted white next week.

(Active) We will post the mail in the morning.

(passive) The mail will be posted in the morning.



N.B This rule can be used in the PASSIVE form when MODALS are used in the sentence.
